All your questions are answered. More or less. If you want to know about me the person, skip along to the info page of my art site, not that that's particularly enlightening. But it's hardly me as a person you're after, is it now? You horrible, selfish bastards.
Hi.
Hi.
Nice to get that out of the way. So what is up with the plot?
I can't tell you. Before, I would have with no hesitation, but Dylan told me that Neil Gaiman said that talking about a story makes it lose its life force or something wonderful like that, and if it's good enough for Dylan and Mr. Gaiman, it's good enough for me. Ha.
Fine. You won't tell me what happens, so could you at least update more?
No. This is hard. Draw your own.
Geeze, why isn't your FAQ as interesting as Dylan's?
Shut up. Ask some normal questions. (Never mind that I'm effectively talking to myself here. Move along...)
Okay... How often do you update?
Once a week on Sunday, to the best of my ability. As I begin to hit my stride, I'm able to do everything faster, read: at the last minute. Some weeks it's ready Sunday morning, others, Sunday night. Monday morning is a good time to check. Other times I miss updates altogether, because I am a lazy ho. Join the mailing list and you'll save yourself a few agonizing seconds of page loading. Considerate as hell, me.
What's your process? What media (wink) do you use to draw the comic?
Ha. Wacky process here: I scribble thumbnails at odd hours of the night, laying out the panels very roughly and writing dialogue on the spot. I don't have a script or anything, just flyin' free. I risk falling flat on my face, of course, but there's nothing like inserting a bizarre injoke at the last minute and seeing where that takes the story. ... Where was I? Process? Oh, right.
Then I go into Photoshop and make up some panel borders from the thumbnail, which I print out in light blue. I leave these for a while to ferment or something while I play some video games. I trace this with black marker and a ruler to make the borders, then pencil in the rest of the page with an HB automatic pencil. Then I whine to my friends for a few hours and watch a video, because I hate inking. Eventually I ink the page with Sakura Micron pens, sizes 01 and 005.
Then I scan it in, and go to Photoshop again, where I do the blue. This is my favorite part, being the fastest and most mindless. I use a Wacom tablet and the paintbrush tool. I size it down, make sure it's legible, and update the site amidst more whining. I feel satisfied for two days before the mild panic sets in again. Second verse, same as the first.
Can I send you some art?
Oh loooord yes. Nothing brings me more pleasure than guest art, particularly because my characters are so stupid to draw. That's some real caring, there. (wipes tear) If possible, upload the picture to your own webspace, because my wee free mailbox is a little cramped. If you absolutely can't, attach the file, but keep it under 200 kb, please. If I see a 2 mb attachment, I get sore and sometimes delete it without looking, depending on how much sleep I've had.
Can I make a livejournal icon/avatar/thingy out of your art?
Ask me. Please. I'll almost definitely say yes, it's so incredibly easy to just send an email, and you'll get that happy glow of being creator-sanctioned.
I linked you. Will you link me?
No promises. I'll check out your site, but I want to keep a trim little links section, made up of friends and/or people whose babies I am carrying. I will take a look, though, and give you feedback if you want it. No idea why you would, though. Do I look competent to you?
I emailed you... Gonna write back anytime soon?
I had a period of severe email shittiness a while ago, and if you wrote to me then, your letter is probably lost in the bog. I got some nice ones then, too... Your best bet is to give me a gentle nudge asking if I got it, and the crippling guilt will drive to to an instant reply. I also die in the presence of Kryptonite.
What's that blonde guy's name?
Often. I'm trying to find ways to use it more so people'll learn it but it doesn't come up much. But there it is.
Are Often and Colette an item?
... AAAAARGH.
Were you influenced by Jhonen Vasquez/minimalist composer Philipp Glass/this turtle?
Oh, absolutely.
Do you know a witty way to end this?
Nope.
